Welcome to the official web site for the NFoL 2009
Blenheim Palace near Woodstock in Oxfordshire is the venue for this Years National Feast of Lanterns, the premier event of the Camping and Caravanning Club
Blenheim Palace is situated adjacent to the Oxfordshire village of Woodstock on the edge of the Chilterns and Cotswolds and is home to 11th Duke of Marlborough and the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill.
We have negotiated a two for one admission to the house and certain parts of the park (subject to conditions) for all participants of the rally. Full information and vouchers will be sent out with your welcome pack when you book.
For more information on the Palace itself please use the following link below: http://www.blenheimpalace.com/
The event will run from Thursday 20th August 2009 to Monday 24th August 2009 with entertainment scheduled for the duration of the rally.
For the first time service pitches, (electric hook ups) will be available for most, if not all who require them for a modest additional charge. These hook ups will be available for the single charge as per the booking form and will be available for the duration of your stay. i.e. if you are arriving on Thursday and departing on Monday, this service should be available to you from Thursday through to Monday.
Also, for the first time you can make and pay for your bookings on line. To book online, follow the link on the “booking information” page, continue to the member “log in” and then complete the online form the same as you would for a Club Site but please remember the dates can only be for the 20th-24th August!
The theme for the mardi gras and lighting up for this year will be TIME TRAVEL, so please think about what you can do as we will be curtailing the main entertainment at 8.00 pm on the Saturday evening to give everyone the opportunity to either light up their unit or visit the street scenes and create a real carnival atmosphere. Also for the first time this year we have introduced another category in the mardi gras. We now have a category for a small family group which will be open to families up to a maximum of 10 people.
Our entertainment follows our theme with music for all ages from Marching bands, Big Band Sound, Soloists and even a disco for the young at heart.
Our local DA and Sections have organised a few THS (Temporary Holiday Sites) for your benefit in the locality so why not come along early (or stay after) and explore the rolling hills of the Chilterns, Cotswolds and Oxfordshire areas. For more information please visit the ‘holiday site’ page in this website
The Chairman’s Charity for the NFoL 2009 is the Herts Air Ambulance. I hope as many of you as possible will support this Charity as it has been one of the last areas in the Country with a major road network passing through it to get an Air Ambulance. The organising committee are hoping to raise sufficient funds to sponsor a special piece of equipment to go into the helicopter.
For more information please see the page on this web site devoted to this charity
Chiltern Region hopes that you will come along and support us at the premier meet of your club at this beautiful stately home.
